Summer 2027 youth STEM program · Registration opens in March
Your child builds a real drone from scratch, then flies it.
A 6-week online workshop for ages 10 and up, run during the July 2027 school holidays. Children follow live, step-by-step sessions with an adult at home, using a Drone Build Box we send to your door. Instructors are selected and checked, and one accountable lead oversees every cohort.
What children learn
How electronics work
Reading simple circuit diagrams and understanding what each part of a drone does.
Safe assembly
Putting the drone together step by step, with soldering on the Solder Track or plug-in connectors on the Plug-in Track.
Flight basics
Setting up the flight controller and learning the physics of lift, balance and control before the first careful flight.
Two tracks
Solder Track
For children ready to learn supervised soldering. An adult must be present throughout.
Plug-in Track
For children who prefer to skip soldering. No soldering: parts connect with plug-in connectors, and the learning focus is the same.
Open to anyone aged 10 and up. Cohort size and the price per child will be confirmed before registration opens in March.
What parents should know
An adult stays at home
A parent or guardian is in the home and nearby for every session, and present during any soldering or battery handling.
Small drones only
The kit is designed around a small, lightweight drone flown indoors or in a safe open space, following the flying rules in the safety guide.
Safety first
Battery, soldering and flying rules are in plain language and printable. Children do not fly until the lead instructor has confirmed readiness.
